I have a new word for us courtesy of my 8th-grade niece.
Have you ever heard the term “mogging?’
M-O-G-G-I-N-G.
She was telling me an exceptionally scintillating story about life in middle school (which of course you know I’m all ears about) and mid-conversation, she said, “And you know, Aunt Kari, of course, you know we were mogging.”
Excuse me?
Come again?
What in the world?
And then I went all spelling bee champion and asked for a definition, use in a sentence and part of speech.
To mog: intransitive verb (mogged, mogging, mogs)
To be successful, to be more successful, to attempt to be the most successful at what you do
And you know what’s mogging?
This fall flower arrangement.
It’s the most successful flower arrangement in the entire house.
Because it created itself.

The only thing better than decorating for fall?
It’s having a fall flower arrangement that decorates itself.
I’m serious.
See that fall flower arrangement on the new piece we recently made over from my aunt?

I didn’t plan it.
I do get credit for ordering everything.
I found the pomegranates.
I found the flowers.
I found the artichoke stems.
(total aside: did you even know that artichoke stems were a thing? I just found this out. Apparently artichoke stems are mogging, too, and I didn’t even know it)

But truth?
I created this entire arrangement by accident. It’s actually not too far of a reach to say that it created itself.
I had the flowers already and just stuck them in a vase a while back until I figured out what to do with them. Then I ordered the pomegranate stems and the artichoke stems to use for a garland in the family room. I never intended to make a flower arrangement with them.
And then last week I had company coming over and I had random pieces of fall scattered all over the house. I was running around trying to figure out where to put everything.

// artichoke stems // pomegranate stems // pink flowers (similar) // white vase (similar) //
I had these stems just laying around and I didn’t have time to put the garland together before company arrived.
So I stuck them in this vase with these flowers.
Yep.
Just randomly stuck them in and after they were nestled amongst the flowers.
I fell in LOVE.

I love, love, LOVE the combo of the flowers with the pomegranates and the artichokes.
It’s so fall.
And SO FRESH.
And so different then how I usually decorate.

Easy Fall Flower Arrangement In Three Steps
Supplies:
artichoke stems (one set)
pomegranate stems (one set)
pink flowers (similar)
white vase (similar)
Here are a few tips to how to create this flower arrangement:
- I got these flowers from Hobby Lobby. I’m not sure if they still have them and I couldn’t find them online, so I found similar ones, but I think any pink flowers will do.
- I definitely think you can go with cheaper flowers. Because you have the pomegranate and the artichoke it elevates the entire arrangement, so you don’t need to splurge on the flowers.
- I’d make sure whichever flowers you choose, the stems are bendable. Then? Bend a few flowers over the edge of the vase so it looks more realistic.
- Everyone always asks me about this vase and I got it years ago at Hobby Lobby, too. I don’t think they make it any more because I can’t find it anywhere so I linked this one that’s almost the same height (12″ tall) and embossed with leaves on the front.
- After you bend the flowers, add in the pomegranates (make sure to pull the wire stems apart on these so you can maximize the pomegranate. They come in a set of two and I used one set. Add one to each side.
- All the stems are really long, so you can bend the ends to make them fit with the flowers.
- Lastly, add the artichoke stems (they come in a set of two also and I used one set) and tuck them in–one in the center and one to one side.

That’s it.
Please, please PLEASE DO NOT overthink it when you arrange the flowers.
Don’t overwork the arrangement.
Just let the arrangement kind of arrange itself.
It knows all about mogging and it wants to mog, too.
