Looking for simple spring centerpiece ideas? Here’s a simple centerpiece I made with these painted eggs and floral branches.

A white bowl filled with pastel-colored, floral-patterned eggs is surrounded by green leaves and white flowers. Nearby are a black-and-white miniature house, a small wicker basket, and a brown wooden pepper mill.

I’m not sure how it happens, but somewhere around the first week of April, my coffee table sits me down and has a talk and explains that it knows that I’ve been busy since Christmas and it was willing to give me a pass.

It’s been looking the other way, holding its breath.

Waiting for me to undeck the halls and put away winter and say goodbye to the snowflakes.

But the time has come.

The free ride is over.

No more tray filled with magazines trying to pass itself off as a superstar.

Spring is here.

Time to get centerpiece serious.

And just when I was ready?

Of course this happened.

A cozy living room with a neutral palette. White couch with beige cushions and a rustic coffee table topped with decorative plants. Framed floral artwork on the walls. Greenery in baskets and pots adds a fresh touch. Patterned rug on the floor.

Here’s a little spring for your Wednesday.

Should we tell the coffee table I’m trying to represent?

This is the view in our family room that I see every morning when I greet the day.

Just between us?

I wish I could tell you that when the first bit of morning arrives and the sunshine streams in through the window, I immediately sit up and stretch and toss off the covers and leap out of bed with a smile on my face and joy in my heart and head downstairs and twirl around the family room and reach out with both arms to embrace the day.

Various green potted plants and small trees are arranged on a shelf, with wicker baskets and decorative eggs added. A botanical sketch is framed in the background, adding a natural aesthetic to the scene.

I wish I could tell you that.

But I can’t.

Not even close.

Most days I open one bleary eye and shut it again and roll over and pull the covers over my head and wish that coffee would immediately teleport itself from the kitchen to the table beside the bed.

A cozy living room with a beige tufted sofa, a white distressed coffee table, and a variety of small potted plants on the table. Two framed floral prints hang on the wall, and a lamp and more plants adorn the background.

This morning was no different.

The sun streamed in the window.  I opened one bleary eye to face the world and my new spring decor….

….and then shut it again.

And as I drifted off to chase my dreams.

Suddenly, without warning, I heard this.

A stylish living room scene with a table adorned with small potted plants and decorative eggs. A beige sofa with textured pillows sits in front, beside a lamp. A framed floral sketch hangs on the wall above.

“Did you see the sunrise?” my husband said. “It looks absolutely amazing.”

He was so cheery.

And I was so sleepy.

And as those words managed to permeate my befuddled sleepy brain, I had three thoughts:

1.  Why is anyone talking before 6:30 am?

2.  I think he’s been watching too much All Creatures Great and Small.

3.  And why are we stating the obvious? Sigh. Of course the sun is rising.

A cozy living room features a beige tufted sofa adorned with neutral pillows. The coffee table holds a wooden tray with white flowers, small decorative houses, and baskets. The backdrop includes framed art and small potted topiaries.

But then?

I sat up and saw it.

This stunning display of orange and gold and yellow and red and tangerine rays more brilliant than any five-star review on the Las Vegas strip is dancing across the sky and over the tops of the highest trees and into my window.

A stunning sunrise and all I could think of was “Of course.”

Talk about taking it all for granted.

A cozy living room features a white tufted sofa with beige pillows, one with a bunny design. A wooden tray on the white coffee table holds decorative items and flowers. The room is adorned with greenery and a beige lamp. A patterned rug is on the floor.

Of course the sun rising and setting

Of course the flowers are starting to bloom.

Of course the grass is growing.

Of course the clouds are rolling past in the sky.

Of course the wind is blowing the branches in the trees.

Of course.

So many amazing brilliant, almost incomprehensible spring things make up this wonderful world that we are blessed to live in…..

…and I so many times I overlook them.

A wooden tray holds two small model houses, a vase with white flowers and green leaves, and decorated eggs. The background shows a beige, tufted surface, possibly a couch. The scene has a cozy, spring-like ambiance.

I take them for granted.

I let them go by without notice or comment or even a second glance.

I’m too busy running and going and doing and planning that I miss so much of the wonder around me.

But not today.

Today it’s spring.

Today my house is full of painted eggs.

Today I totally went all Hallmark and ran out of bed and ran and headed downstairs to truly embrace this spring day.

A today that is full of joy and promise and an extra cup of coffee….

….of course.

PS  The painted eggs came from the Target dollar spot.

PPS And in super exciting news? I’m going to be opening up an online shop this fall that features tiny houses and other handmade finds just like these.

Stay tuned. Of course.
