Looking for budget fall decorating ideas for your home? Here are 21 creative ways to add a little fall decor without breaking the bank.

Happy September.
I hope you are having a day as amazing as you are.
And you have coffee or some other morning beverage.
Because today?
I have some FALL FOR YOU. I know it’s 100 degrees outside (at least around here). I know falling leaves seem light years away. But here’s the thing. Fall is SO MUCH CLOSER than you even know.
And I’m here to get us all ready.
I’m up to my ears in fall decorating and I’m going to show you the entire tour soon (with a fun story), but I have so many easy, fun simple ideas to share. I went around my house and snapped a few ideas from all the fall decorating going on around here and found a few ideas I’ve used before.
So in case you needed a little fall inspiration on a budget?
This is the post for you.
Here are 21 budget fall decorating ideas for your home along with budget finds for every room in the house.
LET’S GO.

// pumpkin pillow //
1. Add a tiny pumpkin pillow to a chair
It doesn’t have to be this pumpkin pillow.
I just added this one to a chair in the living room and it was the cutest pumpkin pillow I knew, so I wanted to introduce the two of you.
It’s hooked wool and measures 10″ x 10″.
And it’s cute.
You can see the pillow here.

2. Make a DIY pumpkin from twigs in the yard.
This is one of my favorite projects because it’s basically free.
You can see the how-to for the twig pumpkin here.
3. Cover the edge of a hutch or bookcase with paper leaves.
I just attached them with double-sided tape and crinkled the edges for a more realistic effect.
I like the leaves kind of draped over one side of the hutch (it looks a little more dramatic).

4. Make acorns from felted sweaters and stitch the top.
My sister made these for me.
If you aren’t about acorns, you can always make felted pumpkins instead.
Here’s the DIY for the project.
5. Create an acorn garland with felted bottoms and mini acorn tops.
I have a DIY for this garland, but if you’d rather just purchase them?
You can see the felted acorns here.

6. If you have a table runner?
Look at see what is on the other side. I had a patterned runner and I just flipped it over to create a navy blue runner instead.
Then I added branches and a few pumpkins for an easy centerpiece.

7. DIY blue and white pumpkins with scrapbook leaves.
I’ve see several DIY’s for blue and white pumpkins.
But this is one of the easiest.

8. Change up the colors of fall.
Think outside the box and layer in blue and white or turquoise or hot pink.
I had these stems just laying around and I didn’t have time to put the garland together before company arrived.
So I stuck them in this vase with these flowers.
Yep.
Just randomly stuck them in and after they were nestled amongst the flowers.

9. Tuck mini pumpkins into a squirrel dish.
Personally? I like mini pumpkins anywhere—but the squirrel dish is so cute.
You can see a super similar white squirrel dish here.

10. Add a pumpkin to a stack up napkins.
Isn’t this the easiest idea?
I used a velvet pumpkin because it’s a little heavier and it makes the perfect napkin paperweight.

11. Make a pumpkin pillow from a placemat.
This is the easiest DIY.
It’s completely no-sew and you just need a pillow cover and a pumpkin placemat.
I found this set that is burlap and super similar here.

12. Fill a dough bowl with pumpkins.
This is the perfect idea for all those pumpkins that you have in a tub that you have no idea what to do with.
I just keep all the pumpkins in the same fall color family and fill up the dough bowl.

//battery operated candles//eucalyptus garland//wheat stalk//
13. Create a fall mantel with simple eucalyptus leaves and hay and candles.
Battery-operated candles with a timer are a great option for a fall mantel.
You can use faux eucalyptus, or real eucalyptus and let it dry in place.

14. Make your own dried hydrangea wreath.
Make sure to pick the hydrangea before they are completely dried so they keep a little color.
Then just glue the hydrangeas to a grapevine wreath.

15. Hand-stitch a thrift store tray for fall.
Add a little bling with black embroidery thread.
Woven through the holes.
Just like the sewing cards in first grade.

16. Tuck fall cards into the edge of a chalkboard or frame.
I ordered these fall flash cards off etsy.
They look cute in a wreath or even just tucked into a chalkboard like this.

17. Add a basket full of wood slices to the door.
You can see how I made DIY wood slices like these here.
Then I added a few fall stems to the wood slice branches.

18. Add a fall candle.
I know I’ve shared this before, but this candle is my all-time favorite.
It’s called Farm Apple Pumpkin and BHG makes it at Walmart.
If your store is sold out, you can find the candle here.

19. Paint a wood sign.
I painted this sign years ago and I still use it to decorate.
Find a font you like and trace it onto a piece of wood with carbon paper.
Then paint (or use a paint pen) to paint the traced lines.

20. Add a pumpkin to a stack of books.
I know this is captain Obvi.
And super simple.
But that’s what makes it so great.
You can stack up some books and then just put a pumpkin on top.
Super pumpkin simple.

21. Add a pinecone to an arrangment.
Pinecones just make anything cuter.
If you are at a loss and feel your arrangement needs something? Just add a pine cone.
Here are 21 ideas for decorating with pinecones.

And then?
Step outside and celebrate.
The season is changing. Hot chocolate and cinnamon cookies and sweaters and crisp cool days are just around the corner.
Here’s to all the fall that is here and is yet to come.
