Buckle up buttercup.
It’s going to be an amazing holiday season.
And today on Day number 3 of “12 Days of Getting Ready For Christmas” I have the BEST solution for all that holiday decorating, but before we get started I have a little make-up tip for all of us.
I know it’s a little random.
Just like me.
Someone recommended it and it’s kind of a game changer and I wanted to share.
I’ve started putting mascara only on the top lashes.
Right? Kind of amazing.
I start with this lash primer and this mascara. The primer makes the lashes extra thick and the mascara goes on and if you put a little liner at the top it kind of looks like you have false eyelashes. Then you don’t put any make-up on the bottom lashes. It opens up your eyes and makes you look so trendy and current.
And now?
I have an even better tip than the no-mascara-on-the-bottom-lashes-making-you-look-like-a-rockstar tip.
Because today?
I’m sharing this.

// faux lambs ear garland //
This is my entryway from last year that I took from fall to Christmas because of that amazing garland that I shared before.
And today I wanted to show the BEST tip you can use with a garland like this or wreaths or mantels or bookshelves or the top of hutches.
The challenge with this staircase? I didn’t have a plug anywhere near the garland.
Has that ever happened to you?
You want to light up a space for the holidays, but you don’t have a plug.
Well—I have the SOLUTION for you.

// battery-operated lights //
I found these amazing battery-operated lights that have a timer. I ordered them in warm white (make sure to get warm white because its so much cozier).
You can see them here.
Last year, I used these battery-operated lights EVERYWHERE and I didn’t really get to share them because the holidays were so busy.
So this year I wanted to give them their day in the sun.

// gray and white rug// faux lambs ear garland //
Here’s how the lights work.
I strung them through the entire garland (there are two strands on this garland.
And then?
Here’s the staircase during the day.

And here’s the same staircase at night with those twinkle lights on the garland.
Amazing? Right?
And I didn’t have to use a plug.
The lights operate off batteries that last for a long time with these garlands. I used them from fall to Christmas last year and the batteries never ran out.

// battery-operated lights //
I also used them on my Christmas mantel last year.
Here’s an overall view of the mantel in the space.
The fireplace is so pretty. It’s constructed from vintage marble with a carved white wood top. It’s beautiful and classic and timeless and amazing. But when they constructed it all those years ago? They added a very unusable plug to the very top of the fireplace.
Yep.
Right there behind that picture.
Which is amazing for a picture light like the one I have–but super challenging in the Christmas mantel lighting department. No one wants a string of lights coming down from on high.
These battery-operated lights solved the problem.
Y’ALL.
These are a game changer.
Think decorating for staircases and tops of hutches and wreaths and garland on top of doors. Anywhere you can add garland–you can add these lights.

Can you see the lights in the garland?
It’s kind of hard to tell from the pictures, but the mantel is so shimmery.
For reference, I used two strands on this garland, but I probably could have just used one.

Here’s a close-up of all the options you have for different light patterns.
You can set the garland to have the lights wave or blink on and off or slowly fade on and off or several other patterns.
This timer lasts for six hours so you can just set it and have it go off and on without ever thinking about it. I usually set our timer for 4:00 when it starts getting dark.
