Decorating for fall? Here are a few tips and ideas on how to make a bedroom feel cozy.

I’ve always wanted to own an Airbnb.

I just watched a movie about an Inn in Vermont and if I squinted? I could see myself running it.

I’d decorate every bedroom with a different theme and build an outdoor patio with a circle of chairs and find the best muffins to leave for guests and leave chunky knit blankets in every room.

This week I created the next best thing with two changes to the bedroom.

One change?

It’s a GIANT change that took us several weeks to complete.

And the second change? It only took 10 minutes.

But now?

Thanks to both the changes the bedroom is cozy with extra cozy on top.

So to celebrate bringing the cozy this fall?

Here’s what the bedroom looks like now. Five woven, apple-shaped baskets made of natural fibers are lined up on a white surface. The baskets are arranged in a row with a blurred background featuring green leaves.

Bright, airy bedroom with white furniture, including a vanity, chair, chest of drawers, and a bed with a polka dot cover. A decorative rug covers the dark wooden floor. Wall art hangs above the chest and a circular art piece adorns the wall.

Can you see it?

Can you spot it?

Does the bedroom look different?

YESSSSS.

We installed real wood floors to match the rest of the house.

Aren’t they beautiful?

I’m hoping to share all the details of the flooring and the company that we partnered with (if I can get everything together) in another post, but for today I just wanted to bask in the glory of these amazing floors.

When we bought the house back, we ripped up the floors and painted the plywood (you can see that project here).

And I loved the floors.

Truly.

But I always wanted the floors in our bedroom to match the rest of the house.

Cozy living room with hardwood floors, white dresser adorned with pumpkins and flowers, and beige curtains. A wooden sign, patterned rug, and cushioned bench enhance the inviting atmosphere. Natural light filters through large windows. And now they do.

The new flooring makes such a difference in the space.

The room feels grounded.

The room feels classic.

The room feels like now it can hang out with all the other rooms in the house.

That was the big change—the giant change that took several weeks.

But here’s the small change.

New sheets.

One of the easiest ways to change it up for fall is to change out your sheets.

And for fall and winter I went with stripes (crazy, right)?

I just ordered these sheets and changed out the bed for fall and they are the COZIEST.

The sheets feel SO MUCH more expensive than they are and they come in so many different colors (I chose the stripes for fall to shake it up a little).

You can see the sheets here. A person holding pillows stands in a cozy bedroom with a neatly made bed. The room features white walls, sheer curtains with a wooden curtain rod, and a wooden nightstand with a lamp. Sunlight filters through the window, creating a warm atmosphere.

A neatly arranged bed with a variety of decorative pillows, perfect to update a bedroom. The pillows feature different patterns and textures, including floral, striped, and ornate designs in light, neutral, and pastel tones. The white headboard and matching bedspread complete the cohesive color scheme.

The central pillow, boasting an ornate floral design, is complemented by striped or floral patterns on others. The light, classic headboard adds a touch of elegance—perfect inspiration to update a bedroom.

To create cozy, mix it up with textures and patterns. I’m telling you.

Your bedroom will thank you.

See the raised texture on those 20″ x 20″ quatrefoil euro shams combined with the quilted blanket on the bed. There’s texture with the rug and baskets and the wood side tables and linen curtains. And I LOVE this quilt from the My Texas House line that’s reversible so you can get two looks for one space.

You can see the quilt set here (it’s reversible and it comes with two shams). Here are a few of my tried and true bedding basics.

A curtain rod with light-colored, vertically striped curtains hangs above a window in a minimalist room with white walls and painted floor ideas. The curtain rod is mounted high, close to the ceiling. The curtains are partially open, allowing some light to filter in.

I get asked about these curtains in the bedroom all the time.

They are such a good deal and I’ve ordered them for other rooms and the twins’ apartments at college, too.

The challenge with these curtains? They come with grommets that are silver. And I’m all about gold right now.

It was such an easy fix.

I just folded over the top and clipped on the rings. You can see these budget curtain rods and curtain rings here.

A rustic wall display features a wooden sign with text, a wooden shelf holding a green and white floral wreath surrounded by round wooden objects, and a white cabinet below adorned with small, woven pumpkin decorations.

Then?

After we finished the floor and added new sheets?

I fluffed the whole room with a little fall.

Not too much, just enough to add a little cozy to the space.

Can you see that happy face?

I’m so excited that fall is here.

Because while summer is amazing?

Cozy is SO MUCH better.
