Do you know what thought went through my head when I typed the title to this post?

The word “mantel.”

A long time ago when this blog was in first grade, I wrote a post about how to create a spring mantel. Except I spelled it wrrrrooooonnnng.

I’m not sure how I missed the correct spelling in English class of the thing that goes over a fireplace, but in that post, I spelled it “mantle.”

And the world let me know.

Yikes.

I went and researched it then and found out that according to Merriam-Webster, “In modern usage, mantel refers to a shelf above a fireplace and mantle refers to a cloak or covering.”

But no matter how you spell it, this spring (almost summer) mantel is easy and cute and only takes 10 minutes.

Yep.

That’s it.

That’s all you need to decorate a mantel like this.

And the best part?

I found the easiest, simplest way to decorate it with the ONE thing we all need in our lives.

A white fireplace mantel decorated with blue and white vases, pink flowers, and candles creates charming spring mantel decor, complemented by a large colorful abstract painting in blue, pink, and gold tones hanging above.

This set of real wax faux flickering candles.

They are so beautiful. They have a swirled pattern with real wax (that looks and feels so real) and the flame flickers and looks so real.

The candles come in different colors, but the living room is blue and white, so I ordered them in white. I love that the white is a true pretty white (I’ve ordered others that were a little creamier and I like the bright white for spring).

BEST. DECISION. EVER.

Instant spring (almost summer) mantel.

Blue and white porcelain vases with pink flowers and greenery sit on books next to a lit candle, floral dish, and an abstract blue, white, and gold painting—perfect for refreshing your spring mantel decor.

Let me sing these candles’ praises.

They are battery-operated and have a remote and you can set a timer with them and you can also adjust the flame to have it flicker more or less.

Me?

I like my candles with extra flicker.

It’s kind of hard to tell what the candle flicker looks like. I thought the best way to show you how would be to compare the photo up above with a brighter light with this photo.

There’s a lot less light, so you can see the flame more.

See how realistic that flame looks?

Each candle operates on 2 AAA batteries.

You can use the remote or simply switch them off and on at the end of the candle.

And in amazing news?

The entire set is under $24 right now and the candles fit perfectly in standard candlesticks.

Sigh.

LET’S GO.

You can see the candles here.

A light blue vase with pink flowers sits on stacked books beside a blue and white ceramic bowl and three brass candlesticks with white candles, creating fresh spring mantel decor. Abstract art hangs in the background.

Once the candles were in the candlesticks, the rest of the mantel fell into place.

Here’s how I created it.

Your ten-minute spring mantel guide step-by-step.

Easy 10-Minute Spring Mantel Decor

Step 1: Add a group of odd numbers to each side

Do not overthink this step.

Just find three things that you love and add them to each side.

Try to stick with a basic color scheme, but other than that? There really aren’t any rules.

I added a set of three candles to each side

Then I added blue and white and a little brass and some flowers to add color and texture.

Here are some ideas for things you could add in odd groups to your mantel:

  • stacked boxes
  • vases
  • picture frames
  • spheres
  • stacks of books
  • wood beads
  • pot of fall flowers
  • milk glass
  • blue and white accessory pieces

And on and on and decorating on.

You get the idea. You just need odd numbers on each side and then vary the height of the items in the grouping.

Step 2: Tuck in some flowers or greenery

Find some flowers (real or faux) for color.

I added some faux flowers and I also tucked greenery into blue and white planters

Again, there are no rules. Here are some budget decorating ideas for spring and some other ideas for your spring mantel:

  • one large vase full of stems on one side (then add two more things to go with it)
  • two equally placed vases on either side full of greenery like these branches
  • one vase elevated on one side (using a pedestal or stack of books) and one vase lower on the other side with both vases full of greenery
  • a large central vase like this with individual glass bottles that you can add greenery from the yard

Step 3: Add the candles

Once your mantel is set, then add the candles to the display.

I only used one set of six candles for this display and I think it works great.

The brass candlesticks came from Target several years ago and the candles fit the candlesticks perfectly.

That’s it.

That’s all you need.

Ten minutes.

These three steps.

And these candles.

Such an easy spring mantel just in time for Mother’s Day and TONS of time left over for to spell all the words correctly all the time.

Starting with mantel.
