Looking for simple self-care tips to help you feel amazing? Here are 17 tips to treat yourself and make you feel special.

Someone asked me yesterday about my weight loss journey.
Sigh.
There are days I’m amazing and work out and eat tons of spinach and egg white omelets.
And then some days?
I just want to sit on the couch with a tub of cookies and cream ice cream and re-watch Gilmore Girls all day for the 45th time.
I think the key to the whole thing is just giving myself a little grace. Truth? This journey we call life is full of speed bumps.
Sometimes they are small and you can just keep going.
But sometimes?
Sometimes they are so big and overwhelming that you have to press pause.
You have to take a moment to regroup and recenter.
You have to remind yourself that you are amazing.
You have to remind yourself that you are special.
And that’s where self-care comes in. So many times we are so busy taking care of everyone else that we forget that we need to take a moment to take care of us—so we can take care of everyone else. So today, to celebrate us, I wanted to share some of the things I’ve been doing lately that are working for me to make me feel special and incredible and loved.
Here’s how I treat myself.
Here are 17 self-care tips you can start today.

1. Try a “Gua Sha” Tool
We talked about this before, so skip this one if you’ve already tried it. If you are saying to yourself, “What is a Gua Shat?” Let me start by linking to the “gua sha” tool so you can see what one looks like.
You can see the tool here.
It’s kind of like a face massager and it helps sculpt your face and increase circulation. I start by applying face oil. I use a face oil like this one that you can see here.
You can research the benefits of it and there are so many great articles on how it works.
When I started using it—I researched videos on YouTube to see how to use it and followed along with them to get started.
I LOVE IT so much.
My face feels so alive and fresh after I finish that I’ve cut down on the amount of foundation I’m using now. All I add to my face is Glotion. Have you heard of it? I ordered it several months ago and I’m about to order my third tube. Westleigh keeps borrowing it when she comes home because she loves it so much, too.
You can see the Glotion here (I order the medium shade).
2. Make yourself a smoothie
I’m hooked on these. The recipe doesn’t really matter.
I just toss in fruit and some more fruit and ice and sometimes a package of low-calorie drink mix.
This single-serve blender is the one that I use. It’s kind of a game-changer.

3. Drink more water
Water doesn’t have to be boring (and its SO GOOD for your skin, too).
My best tip? Someone gave me this water bottle as a gift. You can chop up fruit and add it to the inside of the water bottle and it diffuses the flavor. I also found this water-infused pitcher if you are having company or a party.
Here are some of my favorite combinations:
- watermelon and mint
- apples and lemons
- lime and orange
- strawberries and pineapple
You can see 10 of the best recipes for fruit-infused waters here.
4. Change out your sheets
I know this seems so simple, but it is SUCH a game-changer.
We have these sheets on every bed in the house. Everyone comments on how soft they are and they don’t wrinkle out of the dryer and they just feel so FRESH.
They are SO AFFORDABLE and also have over 350,000 reviews.
We spend an average of 8 hours a day in bed and you deserve the softest coziest bed ever.
5. Spritz your sheets with lavender
There’s just something about scented sheets that makes me think of Downton Abbey.
I used to use a lavender spray, but then I found this rosewater driftwood linen spray by my beloved Caldrea that’s super affordable and smells amazing.
You can see it here.
6. Treat yourself to a bubble soak
I think a bath soak sounds fancier than a bubble bath and this foaming bath soak with essential oils and Epsom salt is AMAZING and the perfect self care tip.
Plus it smells like you are in a claw foot bathtub in a hotel in England.
You can see a four-pack here.
(total aside: I was at Marshall’s last night and they have the BEST selection of bubble bath, etc. so that’s another great resource, too.)

7. Read a book
I know, right?
Doesn’t that sound amazing?
There’s something so delicious about treating yourself to an afternoon with a book.
You can see all my recommendations for my favorite books of the year here.
8. Take a nap
I’ve perfected the art of the 15-minute nap. It’s so indulgent and refreshing all at the same time.
I lay down and close my eyes and take a catnap.
You just need to give yourself permission.
My favorite place? That sofa upstairs next to the windows with the clouds floating by.
9. Just sit
If napping sounds too overwhelming?
What about just sitting for 15 minutes?
Yep.
Just sitting and doing NOTHING.
You could close your eyes, too.
That’s when the nap sneaks in.

10. Treat yourself to a weighted blanket
Have you ever used one before?
They are the next best thing to a hug (maybe better if you aren’t a hugger).
My weighted blanket is SO OLD. I love, love, LOVE it so much! I never really have any problem sleeping because I just turn on the fan and tuck myself into it like a cocoon.
Here’s one I just found with great reviews and a 20% off coupon (affiliate).
11. Wash your towels in something that smells good
These are the little things that make me so happy.
Like reaching for a towel and it smells amazing. It’s like a little treat that you forgot about until you open the linen closet.
This is my go-to best smeller.
It’s one of my favorite smells.
I also love these towels (from the downstairs guest bath) and these blue and white towels (of course).
12. Add some fresh flowers. to your kitchen
You can cut them from your yard.
You can buy an inexpensive bundle from the grocery store and add greenery from your yard in this set of three vases.
You can even just cut branches from your yard.
The secret is to add something to water in a vase and put it on your counter.

13. Turn on some music
And TURN IT UP.
The twins and I do this all the time. We will turn on a classic that we know all the words to and sing it AT THE TOP OF OUR LUNGS. This portable speaker is amazing and super easy to move around the house for an instant party.
If you aren’t a singer?
Just dance.
14. Make something in an air fryer
Have you used one yet? I’m trying to teach this to myself right now.
This one is amazing.
And here’s a mini version if you aren’t cooking for a ton of people.
It’s such a better way of cooking.
Have you ever made cauliflower tots?
LET’S GO.
15. Go to bed early
So many of these self-care tips involve sleeping.
That and water are my two favorite treats.
If you find yourself yawning at 9:00?
Give yourself permission to go to bed early.

16. Write out a list of things you are thankful for
Sometimes life is happening so fast and we don’t even realize all the blessings that are going on around us.
They are there.
We just need to remind ourselves.
A list puts it all down on paper so you can see it and number all the blessings.
17. Tell yourself you are amazing
Remember when we discussed waking up and looking at ourselves in the mirror?
And telling that mirror self that we were amazing?
Just try it and report back.
The first step in convincing the world that you are amazing? Is believing it yourself.
YOU GOT THIS FRIEND.
Yes.
Yes, you do.
