In their designs, the two use only natural, eco-friendly materials and focus on restoration and renewal. After Ann had a serious health scare a few years ago, creating healing environments also became their M.O.<\/p>\n<p>They named their firm Maison Osa\u00efn after a Yoruba deity associated with natural cures and say their work is \u201cnot just about houses; it\u2019s a philosophy\u2014a commitment to placing the well-being of the residents and the surrounding environment at the forefront.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Their first buy-to-sell experiment, House Linaza, is located on one of Antwerp\u2019s oldest streets. They not only restored and overhauled the 1630s structure, but furnished it, designed the tableware and bed linens, and commissioned the art. It was an experiment that worked: the ensemble got snapped up fully stocked\u2014the buyer plans to keep all as is\u2014and they have several new projects in the pipeline.<\/p>\n<p>Photography by Tijs Vervecken unless noted, all courtesy of Maison Osa\u00efn (@maison_osain).<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/7674512992887434709.jpg\">  <br \/>Above: The four-story structure dates from the 1630s\u2014the ground floor was originally a storefront. The Bok dining chairs are by Belgian sustainable furniture brand Ethnicraft.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/3335787677612134592.jpg\">  <br \/>Above: For each of their house overhauls, Ann tells us, \u201cwe create a custom tableware collection tailored specifically to that project and its new owners.\u201d The glazed earthenware plates and etched mugs here are Maison Osa\u00efn designs crafted by Ann-Katrien Malaise of Ceramics by AKM.<br \/>\n<br \/><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/6237174043879285635.jpg\">  <br \/>Above: With the later-addition mezzanine removed, the kitchen now has a tall ceiling with exposed beams and elaborate plasterwork walls. The stairway overlook has a tiny mezzanine behind it that\u2019s used as a meditation nook.   <\/p>\n<p>The shored-up cellar also accessed from here is used for storage and houses a new, eco-friendly heating system.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/3443196983478857232.jpg\">  <br \/>Above: The new curved stair is also plasterwork. The small canvas on the wall is by Belgian artist Dean Recoul\u00e8s, another Maison Osa\u00efn collaborator.<br \/>\n<br \/><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/3206204888227632302.jpg\">  <br \/>Above: The living room needed less of an overhaul\u2014its arched French doors and exposed beams were in place\u2014but required attention: \u201cour contractors meticulously eliminated every speck of dirt and restored the original beam structure,\u201d says Ann, adding that the floor is new and the walls and window frames are newly plastered.,<\/p>\n<p>The sofa is a classic Ligne Roset Togo Lounge\u2014see The 1970s Design That\u2019s Today\u2019s Flop-Down Chair of Choice\u2014and the coffee table is a vintage French design with a dark varnish applied to match the woodwork (here\u2019s another much like it from Ruby Atelier in Copenhagen).<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/8102182043242669227.jpg\">  <br \/>Above: A built-in serpentine bench extends across the far wall of the room. The windows have panoramic views of the River Scheldt.   <\/p>\n<p>The linen bedding is Maison Osa\u00efn\u2019s own design, produced in small batches for their own projects.
