{"id":3062,"date":"2024-07-02T22:47:53","date_gmt":"2024-07-02T14:47:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/homeofmaterials.com\/2024\/07\/02\/just-add-pillows-the-diy-headboard-for-35\/"},"modified":"2024-07-02T22:47:53","modified_gmt":"2024-07-02T14:47:53","slug":"just-add-pillows-the-diy-headboard-for-35","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/homeofmaterials.com\/nl\/just-add-pillows-the-diy-headboard-for-35\/","title":{"rendered":"Kussens toevoegen: Het doe-het-zelf-hoofdbord voor $35"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cWhatever we don\u2019t already own, we\u2019ll make ourselves.\u201d Remodelista directory members Dale Saylor and Joe Williamson&nbsp;of design-build firm Hollymount gave themselves this challenge when they moved with their young son to a characterless two-bedroom rental in New York\u2019s Chelsea.<\/p>\n<p>We dropped in on them not long ago\u2013see the&nbsp;DIY New York Apartment\u2013and were particularly taken with&nbsp;their easy, inventive uses of drop cloths and other inexpensive textiles. Case in point: Their cloud-like pillow headboard inspired by Belgian fashion designer Martin Margiela\u2019s ethereal guest rooms at&nbsp;Les Sources de Caudalie hotel in Bordeaux.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll you need are lightweight bed pillows\u2013the cheapest ones from Ikea are perfect\u2013and thumbtacks,\u201d Saylor told us. \u201cWe spent a lot of time discussing what to do. But when we settled on this approach, we were done in a matter of minutes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Photography by Michael A. Muller for Remodelista.<\/p>\n<h2>Materialen<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Bed pillows, such as the polyester-filled Slan&nbsp;pillows from Ikea; $1.99 each. (N.B.: You need enough to form a grid from mattress top to ceiling.)<\/li>\n<li>Brass thumbtacks (two per pillow). A pack of 60 Brass Thumbtacks&nbsp;is $1.30 at Home Depot.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Total expenses: less than $35.<\/p>\n<h2>Instructies<\/h2>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/7542281791068093209.jpg\">  <br \/>Above: Saylor and Williamson began by measuring their grid: \u201cWe wanted the headboard to be the width of the bed and extend to the ceiling.
